About the Existential OCD category

Existential OCD is a form of OCD that involves fears and obsessions about existence, death and the meaning of life. Some examples of the compulsions and behaviors related to this type of OCD are as follows:

  • Excessive contemplation of life and death
  • Obsession with reading philosophy or having philosophical discussions
  • Obsession with studying religions and/or religious scriptures
  • Obsession with studying NDEs (near death experiences)
  • Excessive contemplation of the vastness (or emptiness) of the universe
  • Obsessive thoughts about your loved ones dying or being dead
