Seeking advice on supporting my child with OCD

Hello Everyone,
I hope you’re all doing well. I’m reaching out to this beautiful community today because I’m a parent looking for guidance and support in helping my child, who has recently been diagnosed with OCD. My child is still relatively young, 8 years old, and it has been a challenging journey for both of us. Mainly, I want to know how I can explain OCD to my child in an age-appropriate and non-frightening way.
I’m interested in hearing from other parents or caregivers with experience supporting a child with OCD. I’d greatly appreciate any insights, tips, or personal stories you’d be willing to share.

Hello,
I want to start by saying that I genuinely empathize with your situation, and I’m glad you’re seeking help and support for your child. It’s a brave step to take, and I would do my best to gather as much advice as possible if my child was dealing with the condition.
I believe that sharing age-appropriate books or videos about OCD can be super helpful in illustrating the concept. Engaging in open conversations where your child can ask questions and express their feelings is essential. Let them know that they can talk to you about anything related to their OCD without fear of judgment.
